Wendy and Bonnie, “I Realized You,” Genesis (Skye Records 1969, reissued by Sundazed 2008).
This is a spectacular “lost” album from 1969. Wendy and Bonnie Flower, sisters from San Francisco, recorded this album that turbulent year and the demise of the record label, Skye Records, insured that it would quickly fade into obscurity. WFMU’s Irwin Chusid produced the reissue with the full cooperation of Wendy and Bonnie. Sundazed first released it in 2001 and then again in 2008 with seven bonus alternates and outtakes and a second disk of demos and live recordings from 1968-70.
Wendy was 17 and Bonnie 13 the year this record was made. Their exceptional harmonies weave throughout these pop-psychedelic gems in unexpected ways. There are moments of exultant surprise.
