Marissa Nadler, “River of Dirt,” Little Hells (Kemado, due March 3, 2009)
Nadler has such an expressive and expansive voice. This track, available through Kemado Records in advance of the March 3 release of her new album Little Hells, shows Nadler with full band accompaniment, sounds like a real leap forward. Her reverb-laden vocals still ground the music, but the soundscape is enriched. “Produced by Chris Coady,” according to Kemado, “the starry musical guests include longtime collaborator Myles Baer, Simone Pace (Blonde Redhead), and Dave Scher (Farmer Dave).”
