Bon Iver, “Babys,” Blood Bank EP (Jagjaguwar 2009)

Just because something is popular doesn’t make it bad, or make it lose meaning. Bon Iver has been heard, and deservedly so. This music is so intelligent, so flush and full, so round, so much of what power can be when it is used for good. This song washes over you and takes over. It issues from Steve Reich, from Wire, from gamelan playing, from Bob Dylan. This is fine, fine sensation.
